AN OATH OF BONDAGE

A K/S novel

by

Sharon St. James

Jarann walked over to Spock and looked at him with unveiled arrogance.  “You see, James is mine - to with as I wish.  As for you, Visitarr, you will still be given shelter for the night, but guards will be posted outside your tent.  I warn you not to stray.”  He gestured at two men who got Spock to his feet.  “Tomorrow you will return to Getham and tell him that I treated you with more courtesy than you deserved.  You will also tell him that I did not accept his bribe of thirty drammits for James!”

Jarann turned abruptly and walked toward his tent while the two men led Spock away, weapons brushing against his back.

  He was helpless…

James Kirk had never contemplated suicide before, but then he did.  It would be a release from his tormented life – and from his oath to remain as Jarann’s property in exchange for Spock’s safety.  There was no way he could escape from the man, since he was sworn not to.  Yet there was one condition of the oath that Jarann had not stipulated nor foreseen.  Death.

He shuddered, knowing he was not in a stable enough mental condition to make such a decision.  He recognized that he was emotionally shattered, and doubted if he would ever feel secure or have a sense of self esteem again.  Of course, if Scotty ever located them, there were psychiatric clinics.

He flushed at the thought.  Then, without hesitation, he brought the knife to his throat.  His life was already over…

“When was the last time you bought a prostitute for the night?” McCoy asked, no unkindly.  NO matter how Spock tried to control it, his face was a mask of worry and fear.

The Vulcan opened his mouth, closed it again.  He had never taken a prostitute, had never even entered such an establishment.  Now he was expected to procure one for the evening – not a faceless whore, but someone very special to him.  James Kirk…

[][][][][]

Spock made another attempt to reach him.  “We know you have suffered, but we are your friends.  Please allow us to share your suffering.”

Kirk sat up suddenly and lifted his chin.  “You don’t know the meaning of the word.  What they did to me…”  He bit at his lower lip, then said softly, “I don’t want to remember.”

“It’s important that you do.”  More reassurance from McCoy.  “When we get you home, you’ll have your own life again.”

Kirk shook his head slowly.  “The Interlude is my home.  I’m happy here.”

“You would give up the stars for this?”  Spock waved his hand, indicating the room.  “Rather than travel through the beauty of space, you would prefer to confine yourself to this room and remain a prostitute?”

Kirk stared at him coldly.  “I think you two should return to your beautiful, starry space, your enormous starship,” he said bitterly.  “Easy for you to do it – you fit in.  Me…?”  He shrugged in resignation.  “I’m no starship captain.  I’m a whore.  I work for Rejin.  That’s my life now and I like it.”

A light touch on his arm, brown eyes that were filled with concern.  “What did the Klingons do to you to make you so afraid?"

ICEFIRE

a K/S novel by
Ann Mara Crouch

Meet Nicolaus Greyson, Spock's all too human, "matchmaker" uncle, a very reputable scientist and admiral in Starfleet. His talent for mental manipulation rivals that of even the most stubborn of Vulcans. Therefore, his plan to bring Kirk and Spock together can't possibly fail... or can it? Problem: Vulcan culture vs. human culture. Can love alone overcome the differences?

[][][]]

Spock turned to the house, catching glimpses of light through the thick trees. He stood at the edge of the massive green lawn holding his carryall with both hands. "I am afraid," he said aloud. "And I am also speaking with myself," he added as he began the ascent up the gradual incline of stone steps leading to the lower doors. "Therefore I am either, a: frustrated, b: confused, or c: apprehensive," Spock continued to mutter to himself. "This is a habit that I have allowed to develop." Spock was now almost to the house. "My mind is orderly and disciplined, therefore this peculiarity should not exist." Spock moved closer to the doors. "But it obviously does, therefore this casts doubts upon my assumptions regarding the inherent discipline existing within my mind." He stopped on the steps outside the door.

Gusto's bard was building to a fever pitch in his excitement at Spock's arrival. "And when I open the door, I will undoubtedly be assaulted by a 150 pound animal that also lacks a modicum of discipline." Spock's shoulders sagged as he realized he could delay no longer. He stepped up and pressed the release plate admitting him home.

Stepping into the foyer, he looked up to the central part of the house. He saw Jim Kirk rise from his chair. Suddenly the wind rushed from Spock's lungs as he was thrown back against the wall. Gusto stood over him, his whole body quivering with excitement. Spock fended off the animal's wet tongue with his forearm. "Nicolaus!" Spock's voice was emphatic.

Kirk came and leaned over the decorative railing overlooking the foyer; his only view of Spock was the long legs thrashing around as he attempted to push the dog from him. Gusto saw the tussle as a game and playfully took Spock's tunic in his teeth and pulled.

  "Nicolaus!" Spock pleaded.

"Gusto!" Nicolaus roared the animal's name. Gusto instantly moved off the Vulcan and sat down as ordered. Spock sat up and Kirk suppressed a chuckle.

Spock stood, his dark, normally impeccable hair mussed, his uniform tunic torn. He brushed his shredded tunic into place.
"Sorry about that, Spock." Nicolaus waved his hand abruptly at Gusto. The dog hung his head in shame. "I was in the bathroom," he added sheepishly.

Spock affected his best dignified air under the circumstances. "Indeed," he commented without inflection. He looked up at Kirk. "Captain, it is a pleasure to see you." He traversed the four stairs to the central room. Kirk moved back from the railing and watched Spock climb the few stairs. He stuck out his hand ignoring his knowledge of the fact that Spock did not like the human greeting of a handshake. Spock only touched the ends of Kirk's fingers.

"It is good to see you again, Spock."

The Vulcan nodded. "If you will excuse me, I must change." Spock turned and glared at his uncle. Nicolaus stood with his hands jammed into his pants pockets, rocking back on his heels. //It worked,// Nicolaus thought to himself. //Totally disarmed him.// Gusto had done his job beautifully. //I'll have to give the dog some ice cream.//

Spock nodded to Kirk and moved across the room to the spiral staircase that rose straight up to the loft room. Kirk turned and watched as Spock climbed the stairs. He did not turn his attention back to the admiral until Spock's bedroom door had slid shut.

"Well?" Nicolaus said. He, like Kirk gazed up the stairs at the closed door.

"I don't know." Kirk rubbed his lower lip. "He's not too happy."

"That's when he's the easiest to manipulate." Nicolaus moved to the bar. "Want a drink?"

THE SOUND OF RAIN
and other K/S stories by

THE SOUND OF RAIN
He turned 180 degrees about looking over the furniture, the shadow that was the fireplace, the shelves that held his somewhat valuable collection of antiques. His gaze fell on the couch. On it was the immaculate, graceful form of the Vulcan turned on his side, one arm under his head for a pillow. Kirk continued to stare at his friend, drawn to the satiny black texture of the hair, the olive, angular features softened in sleep, the compact, tall body curled perfectly to fit the length of the couch. As if of their own accord, Kirk's legs moved forward and in seconds he was standing beside the couch looking down at the sleeping man. Suddenly Kirk shuddered as his dream forced its way into his mind again, the memory of it prickling his skin with a coldness that was almost debilitating. Kirk clamped his eyes shut. It was only a dream. Not real. He was simply projecting his own desires onto the situation. His own love... His fists clenched as he tried to blank the thoughts from his mind. "Jim?" The low voice broke his reverie. He opened his eyes to see Spock watching him with concern. Kirk dropped his head in shame. This was the second time in one day that Spock had caught him with the same expression on his face.

A PRIVATE MISSION -- Parts I and II
"Spock...," Kirk called. "Don't withdraw on me. Please. It's safe now. You can come back." At those words, Spock's head turned and his eyes focused on Kirk's face. "See?" Kirk said. "It's just me. And as soon as I get you settled I'll plot the course for home. In a week we'll be back on the ENTERPRISE." Spock blinked and his eyes grew very bright. Kirk watched, breath held. Spock opened his mouth to speak. His words were barely audible. "They got no information from me." Kirk felt his insides melt at the words. "I know," he said hoarsely, drawing the Vulcan close. "I know."

DISTRACTIONS

Spock tried to think of something appropriate to say on the topic. What came out was more personal than he'd intended. "Vulcans know of burning... not of love. We are never taught it. Or we are taught not to..." "It's unfortunate," Kirk mused. "The pon farr would go so much easier on you if it were tempered with love, I think." Spock could only stare at Kirk, horrified that he had mentioned the forbidden words. Kirk sighed, again seeming to read his mind. "Spock, I'm not going to discuss this with anyone. We're alone. Don't look so afraid... or... shocked. I'd like to think we can talk about it. I did after all share your last pon farr with you." Spock caught his breath, held it attempting to wrestle himself under control. "In a manner of speaking, perhaps you did..."

THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD

a K/S novel by

Sharon St. James

PART ONE: FINNEGAN: "And Keeps My Mind From Wandering"

Young cadet Kirk meets Finnegan at the Starfleet Academy and is the butt of many a practical joke.  Meanwhile, Finnegan's roommate, a harsh, overbearing and insecure bully, takes the idea of a practical joke too far, injuring Kirk and leaving a guilt-ridden, not so cocky Finnegan in the wake of his brutality.

PART TWO: KIRK:  "It Was Twenty Years Ago Today..."

Now a starship captain, Kirk meets Finnegan again.  His old feelings, and a still unresolved psychological block from events in his academy days, surface and threaten his mental health, as well as his quickly deepening relationship with Spock.  And the still guilt-ridden Finnegan seems to be the only man who can help him.

Approximately 145 pages, spiral bound.

This is strictly K/S; NOT a Kirk/Finnegan story!

ONE NIGHT STAND #1

This is a crazy (but quality) endeavor of two slightly demented editors:

Alexis Fegan Black and Wendy Rathbone

REPEAT AFTER ME by Andrea Arat

I let my hand wander to the flatness of my stomach, then a little lower just brushing the light curls at the base of my...  The door on the other side of the bathroom hissed.  I jumped, startled, and dropped the towel I was holding in my other hand.  Spock stood in the doorway, a black silhouette in his long, dark Vulcan robe.  "Excuse me, sir.  I'd thought you'd be asleep."  We'd shared a bathroom for almost a year.  This had never ever happened before.

STRIKING OFF HIS CHAINS by Alled Navesih

James stared at the Vulcan for a moment which felt like hours.  In his own mind, he felt the slavers' "magic" come to life like a restless phoenix.  It made him want what his master wanted.  It made him need what his master needed.  It made his breathing quicken, sending a strange pulse of electricity through his groin.  "Your response comes from the slavers, does it not?" Spock inquired gently, sending shivers down the human's spine with the melodic and compassionate tone.

ONE NIGHT STAND #2

In the tradition of the first issue, ONE NIGHT STAND #2 now exists

THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE by Natasha Solten

"Our experience back there," Spock nodded at the Guardian, "taught many things.  Value is not in quantity, but quality.  One girl should not be required to die for a universe.  It is just as wrong for a universe to die for one girl.  You made a choice.  Do you wish to retract your decision?"  Kirk nodded slowly.  "Yes."

THE OPPOSITE OF HELL by Robin Hood

Kirk pushed up on his hands to see him better.  "I saw... you in the briefing room."  Spock's face whitened at the remembrance and he rolled out from under the smaller man and they both stood.  "I'm sorry, Spock.  I didn't mean to bring it back so hard but you did have those feelings.  You were crying and I saw it."  It took a moment for the words to register and Spock turned slowly, his heart pounding faster than its usual gallop.

THE TOUCH OF FORGETFULNESS by Andrea Arat

"I have violated your trust," Spock said finally, voice just above that of a whisper.  "Forgiveness is not deserved."  "What the hell are you talking about?" Kirk asked; a painful frown creasing his eyes.  His wet face shimmered in the dim light.  "I had no permission to violate your mind.  What I have done..."  Spock's stomach convulsed in nausea.  He choked back the drastic reaction.  His stomach muscles rebelled.  "...worse than rape..." he managed to get out.

VULCAN SAND, EARTHLY SEAS by Robin Hood

"Welcome. You are the Romulan we have been expecting."  The alien grimaced as his eyes moved past Spock to see the human standing there.  Kirk, without thinking, brushed past Spock and threw out his hand exuberantly.  The Vulcan cringed at what he had to do next but reacted instantly, in character.  "Kirk," he snapped, grabbing a shoulder and pulling the human back.  He held the body a moment hoping to ease the coming fall and then directed him backward.  The surprised look in Kirk's eyes as he landed in a heap on the carpeted floor made Spock turn away.  Kirk struggled stiffly to his feet.  Spock ignored Kirk with difficulty.  "Please forgive him.  He is a new captive on our ship and needs more exposure.  Training him has been difficult.  I shall discipline him later."

ONE NIGHT STAND #3

Yet another in the K/S series...

SHADOW OF A FRIEND by Andrea Arat

As his eyes accustomed themselves to the darkness he discovered his was not alone.  An adult, humanoid form lay slumped in one corner.  Heart now in his throat, Kirk approached cautiously  It was a man clothed only in torn, frayed trousers.  He was tall and think and as Kirk kneeled to take a closer look, the familiarity of the figure caused him to gasp.  "Spock!"

HUMOR IS A DIFFICULT CONCEPT by Robin Hood

"A mindmeld would be logical and it would allow me to ascertain the voracity of your rather flamboyant accusation."  The Vulcan's voice stopped...  //This is Jim... I believe.//  Spock shook his head in answer to himself and stared into the furious blue eyes, lovely eyes that were so differently than the flashing, hazel eyes of James Kirk...  Spock felt a deep rumble of warmth stir somewhere in his mid-section as his grip tightened on the slim feminine shoulders.  "Dr. Lester... Jim... I..."

SHADOWS OF PARADISE by Natasha Solten

Alone on the bridge of the ENTERPRISE Kirk stood, staring at the vista of stars beyond the spinning planet below and let unshed tears mingle with the distantly shimmering lights.  After the complete oneness he'd felt with the spores the true loneliness of the individual had become much more apparent.  And yet the togetherness, the oneness had been so wrong.  Why, he asked himself over and over again.  Why is this loneliness the correct path?  And this time he did not have an answer.

THE PRIMITIVE THING TO DO by Andrea Arat

Kirk yelped in protest, opening his eyes, horrified Spock rolled over, half-asleep, and threw a protective arm over him.  "Jim," he mumbled, voice slurred with sleep.  Kirk lay very still, eyes open, waiting for the tremors to pass.  Tears fogged his vision.  "Jim?"  Spock snuggled closer.  "Dreams again?"
